San Francisco Mega Job Fair at the Old Mint Oct. 22: What Job Seekers Should Know

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The City and County of San Francisco is putting on its own job fair this week, and it picked a landmark for it. The Mega Job Fair runs Thursday, October 22, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM inside the Old Mint at Fifth and Mission, with employers from hotels, health care, the airport and city government expected to be on the floor looking for San Francisco job seekers.

Free, in person and four hours long. Bring a stack of resumes to the Mint on Thursday, then make the short walk to Union Square, where Macy's holds its holiday hiring day the same day.

A City-Run Job Fair at the Old Mint

This one comes straight from City Hall. San Francisco's workforce development team organizes the fair, and the city's Office of Small Business invited small businesses to take a table at no cost. The pitch to businesses was simple: hundreds of job seekers, one room, in person.

The venue helps. The granite Mint building sits at the corner of Fifth and Mission, a short walk from the Powell Street BART and Muni station and around the corner from Westfield San Francisco Centre. No car or parking garage required.

🔥 Who's on the Employer List

Enterprise Mobility, the rental car company, lists the fair on its own recruiting events calendar and says it will be there to talk about open positions. The city's posted roster for the fair includes San Francisco International Airport, United Airlines, UCSF, Chinese Hospital, One Medical, the San Francisco Giants, the Westin St. Francis, the Fairmont, the San Francisco Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Postal Service.

Expect mostly front-line work, from guest service and security to caregiving, alongside some city and nonprofit roles. The city hasn't published a total job count for this year's fair, and rosters change in the final days, so check the list again before Thursday.

Same Day, Short Walk: Macy's Hiring Day

October 22 is also Macy's national holiday hiring day. The Union Square flagship on O'Farrell Street is a short walk across Market Street from the Mint and takes walk-in applicants for seasonal store jobs. Different event, different employer, no registration. Our Macy's and Bluemercury hiring day guide has the store details. One free morning can cover both.

📋 How to Show Up Ready

  • Register ahead. Use the link on the city's Mega Job Fair page so you're on the list before you arrive.
  • Print more resumes than you think you need. A dozen is not too many with this many tables.
  • Get there early. Recruiters are freshest in the first hour, before lines form at the busiest tables.
  • Know your schedule. Airport, hotel and hospital jobs often run nights, weekends and early shifts.
